Eye on the election: critique of practice and observing possible outcomes
Reader let me be brief and straight to the point...
So far at 1147hrs on 23 August 2023 election day , less than 30% of polling stations in Harare have commenced voting in what shows to be a voter suppression tactic. While others haven't received ballot boxes . This brings us to the conclusion that ZEC has no capacity to run a credible election and it risks the legitimacy of it's outcome . What a shame .
Therefore , My biggest concern with the malpractices in this election is that it will make it hard for the winner to legitimize their win . Especially opposition who do not have access to state machinery like the army and police . I put it that Zanu PF is doing that deliberately in anticipation of loss. They intend to challenge the outcome in courts basing on the fact that they are captured and occupied by their cadres since judges are appointed by the President who at this moment is the incumbent leader of Zanu PF.
To prove the logic of my case , Zanu PF has been using the courts to manipulate this election from barring Saviour Kasukuwere from contesting , the attempt to disqualify the 12 CCC Bulawayo candidates and the use of the courts to impose the unfair nomination fees .
So at this moment I urgent voters to remain vigilant and vote big . Opposition parties should ensure they use all their available resources to encourage voters to go vote and ensure their agents are capturing everything and have their legal teams on stand by .
The election is being turned into a litigation race
