Zim’ s transport crisis proves Chamisa was right : A quick thread
Hona ka wamai , Zimbabwe has been grappling with many waves of crisis resulting from bad leadership and poor governance. Parcel among them is the painful transport crisis that has hurt many of our people who are the poor majority . These people are not as privileged as some us they can’t afford cars or to hire cabs so they depend on the commuter omnibus transport system to travel. In light of this CCC leader and then leader of the MDC in 2018 , Nelson Chamisa proposed an idea to introduce the bullet train in Zimbabwe . He was criticized and labeled childish by the sections of the court of public opinion. However 5 years after the election the Harare regime failed after attempts to solve the problem . Here is a quick thread ……
1. @nelsonchamisa was right and informed by foresight when he suggest the bullet train idea in his 2018 election manifesto. Evidence of a failing transport system shows so. The ZUPCO monopoly failed and transport fares continue to hike against inflation and lack of regulation.
2. The failure of the Zupco monopoly opened way for shadowy and unregulated transport cartels embodied as GHACO, ZIPITA and ZUDAC ( to name a few) . These syndicates have allowed individuals to manipulate busfares and impose great suffering on the poor majority.
3. These transport cartels are corrupt as they thrive on bribery and illegal price fixing to make profit and sustain their operations.
4. Now the Situation in status quo is as a result of over dependence on one mode of transport in the country i.e road transport. This was also a result of corruption and bad governance destroying NRZ and propaganda that further kept the situation like this.
5. So @nelsonchamisa ‘s bullet train idea was suggestion for modernization and modal increase of our transport system. People might have rubbished him at the time but time has proven him right. Here the mass followed propaganda of Zanu PF at the expense of transformation.
